Inside the Four Weeks
Week One: Hope
Hope is easy when we know the ending. But Advent begins in the unknown — the waiting, the disappointment, the long ache for God to show up.
This week helps families name the hopes they hold quietly, bravely, even when hope feels risky. Through the story arc of Scripture and of our own lives, we wonder together:
What if God isn’t the only one we’re waiting for? What if God is waiting for us?
Week Three: Joy
Joy isn’t surface-level cheer. It isn’t tied to circumstances.
In Scripture, joy is often found in the most unlikely places — as resistance, as agency, as a reminder that no system or circumstance gets the final word about our worth.
This week helps families discover that joy can be chosen, nurtured, defended… and shared.
Week Two: Peace
Peace isn’t pretending everything is fine. It isn’t quiet for quiet’s sake.
It’s shalom — the deep, courageous work of making things whole.
This week explores the difference between keeping peace and making peace, and invites families to notice the places where God’s kind of peace is breaking through… and the places where we’re called to participate in it.
Week Four: Love
“Immanuel” means God with us — not from a distance, not when things get better, but right in the middle of our humanity.
This week invites families to rediscover love as presence, reciprocity, and the sacred work of showing up for one another.
We explore what it means to be our brother’s (and sister’s) keeper — not out of duty, but out of the kind of love that makes us less alone.
It turns Advent into something you experience, not something you check off.
With readings and practices that are theologically rich yet family-friendly, You’re Invited helps kids and grown-ups engage Advent with honesty, imagination, and spiritual depth.
